Nostalgia & Madurodam
We visited Madurodam back in 2018, and the trip carried a wonderful sense of nostalgia. It is an attraction that Mehran had already been to with his grandparents when he was little, so returning together made the experience incredibly meaningful. Whether you are traveling as a couple or with family, this is a must do activity for both adults and kids alike.

Madurodam has an entrance ticket of 22.50 Euros and it is a fairly popular tourist attraction.

We spent a total of 2 hours at Madurodam, which felt like the perfect amount of time to explore the grounds without rushing. As we began walking through the gates, we genuinely felt like Gulliver from Gulliver’s Travels while going around the park. Looking down at the intricately designed landscapes gives you a completely unique perspective on Dutch architecture and engineering.
Exploring the Miniature Highlights and Interactive Exhibits
The sheer detail of the model replicas is breathtaking. The mini versions of Amsterdam and Rotterdam were particularly special to see up close, showcasing everything from historical canal houses to massive modern port infrastructures. Beyond just looking at the displays, the park offers fantastic interactive elements. We thoroughly enjoyed operating the different airplanes and trains, which added a fun, hands on layer to the afternoon.
The outdoor modeling is paired with beautiful landscaping, and the whole park was absolutely stunning with a lot of greenery and flowers blooming all around the walking paths. If you want to dive deeper into local culture, they also feature excellent indoor areas. There was an indoor exhibit about Willem van Oranje, one of the founders of the Netherlands, that helped us improve our history knowledge in a highly engaging way.
Final Remarks and Local Sweet Treats
We ended our trip with freshly made Stroopwafels from a stall within the park, and the taste was just amazing. There is truly nothing quite like eating a warm, gooey Dutch waffle right after a couple of hours of exploring.
Madurodam successfully packs the history, charm, and innovation of the Netherlands into a vibrant and interactive space. It adds a layer of nostalgia and we are looking forward to re-visiting with our kids soon.
