In July 2016, I took my first ever trip to the Netherlands with Mehran. Wildlands Adventure Zoo Emmen was one of the incredible attractions that we decided to visit during our stay. Here is how the trip went.

Tickets & Information
The entrance ticket for the attraction was 30 Euros, and it proved to be worth every cent. The zoo spans over an enormous area and houses a large number of species from the animal kingdom. To make exploration easy, the entire park is divided into three distinct themed sections.

Exploring the Three Worlds of Wildlands
Nortica
We started our adventure with Nortica, which houses arctic animals. As we walked through, we came across penguins, polar bears, sea lions, and a lot of different species of fish. There were a few interactive experiences in this section as well that we both thoroughly enjoyed.
Serenga
Next, we entered the Serenga section, which is home to giraffes, camels, rhinoceroses, hippopotamuses, zebras, and other Savannah animals. This section also offers an immersive safari experience on an old truck. I enjoyed the safari especially because it was my very first truck safari.
We stopped to have some snacks to recharge our energy before moving on to the final section of the zoo.
Jungola
Jungola, as the name suggests, is the section housing a great number of species from the jungle. We took a relaxing boat ride to explore the deep jungle through the Rimbula river. From the water, we saw different species of butterflies, apes, birds, elephants, snakes, and other wild animals. If you are feeling adventurous, Jungola is covered with suspending rope bridges that you can climb to enjoy the stunning view from the top.
Souvenirs and Final Thoughts
We spent nearly 4 hours at the zoo, and the time flew by. On our way out, I bought a penguin stuffed toy from the zoo shop, which had an enormous collection of different stuffed toys as well as other unique items.
We thoroughly enjoyed our visit to Wildlands Adventure Zoo Emmen. Not only were we able to see a lot of different animals, the zoo also included so many interactive adventures that we absolutely loved. This is definitely on the top of our list to visit with our kids as they love both animals and adventures.
