Idaplatz
To make me feel better, Mehran made a route for us to walk through with streets having cherry blossom trees. Of the places that we visited, Idaplatz had the most number of trees. Tucked away in the vibrant Wiedikon district of Zurich, this public square completely transforms when the spring season hits. The area feels like a mini Japanese district.
It transported us to Japan for some time and we enjoyed walking along the stunning cherry blossom trees. Standing in the middle of the square with pink petals falling around us offered the exact escape we had been looking for. It proved that you do not always need to board a long-haul flight to experience the magic of a foreign spring. Sometimes, a dedicated local neighborhood route can capture that exact same essence.

While our immediate neighborhood walk provided the perfect initial escape, expanding our search into a slightly longer drive allowed us to see how deeply the country embraces the spring season. Moving beyond the city streets and onto the open roads reveals a completely different side of the Swiss spring landscape.
