7 Best Shopping Malls in Bangkok for Families: A Halal Food and Souvenir Guide
Dedicated to the Awesome Bangkok Malls
If you are planning a trip to Southeast Asia, Bangkok is a destination that promises magic around every corner. In December 2025, we spent an incredible week in the Thai capital as part of our three week journey through Malaysia, Thailand, and Singapore. While Thailand is famous for its stunning islands, we chose to focus entirely on the capital to soak up the culture and city life.
We quickly fell in love with Bangkok. To beat the tropical heat, we made it a tradition to explore a different mall almost every day. From incredible Halal food to massive toy collections, here is our personal review of the best malls in Bangkok and how we spent our time there.

MBK Center: Our Absolute Favorite
From the Grand Palace, we took a Grab ride to MBK Center. We had heard glowing reviews about this mall and it did not disappoint. In fact, this was our favorite mall out of everything we visited. It was such a hit that we visited MBK Center twice during our trip.
We started our day at the food court which has plenty of Halal options. We found a fantastic Halal Indian stall and enjoyed Pani Puri, Samosas, Naan, and Vegetable Curry. The food was delicious and gave us the energy we needed for a massive shopping expedition.
MBK Center is a treasure trove of Thai souvenirs, electronics, toys, clothes, perfumes, and luggage. We started by buying stationery at Moshi Moshi. Our other finds included suitcases, portable fans, cameras for the kids, elephant garments, massage oils, and scented hand creams. We even found cute pink and blue Tuk-Tuk models. We walked out with our hands full of bags and highly recommend MBK to every tourist.
ICONSIAM and the SOOKSIAM Bazaar
After an adventurous day at Dreamworld, we arrived at ICONSIAM in the evening. My research showed that we could easily find Halal food at SOOKSIAM, which is a beautiful cultural bazaar located inside the mall.
SOOKSIAM offers a unique vibe with Thai food and traditional souvenirs. After a great dinner, we explored the rest of the mall. While ICONSIAM is famous for luxury brands, we found it a bit too high end for our taste. SOOKSIAM was the highlight for us because of its cultural experience. We ended our night by grabbing some authentic Thai Mango Sticky Rice from a stall before heading back to the hotel.
Siam Paragon Shopping Centre
Following our visit to SEA LIFE, we spent three hours exploring Siam Paragon. By this point, we had completely fallen in love with the shopping culture of Thailand. At Siam Paragon, we focused on stationery items and a huge variety of toys.
The food court here is also excellent. We found a South Asian stall serving Halal Chicken Biryani and Pani Puri. It is a great spot to cool down and refuel after seeing the aquarium.
Megaplaza: The Geeky Paradise
We took a Grab to Megaplaza, which is definitely not your typical touristy mall. It has a very specific “geeky” vibe that Mehran loved. The floors are packed with shops selling anime figures, toys, trading cards, and collectibles from famous Asian television shows.
We even found a store dedicated entirely to Harry Potter collectibles and bought a few items there. We spent about two hours exploring the different shops and finished the visit at the arcade. If you love pop culture, this is a must visit.

Tha Maharaj
On our last day, we focused on finishing our souvenir shopping. We started at Tha Maharaj, an outdoor mall located right on the Chao Phraya River. The river view adds a lot of beauty to the experience. It is a major tourist location with many stalls, but we only stayed for about 45 minutes to pick up a few items before moving to our next stop.
Asiatique The Riverfront
Our next stop was Asiatique, and it was even more impressive than Tha Maharaj. The vibe was more appealing and there were many more tourists and shopping options.
The highlight for me was “Miniso Land.” I had been looking for Miniso stores throughout our trip, and this huge location made all my dreams come true. I had an awesome time buying cute items there. Between the food, the views, and the endless shopping, we spent two hours splurging here.
CentralwOrld
We chose CentralwOrld for the final stop of our Thailand trip. We were pleasantly surprised to find a Disney Exhibition happening right outside the mall. We watched some live performances and explored stalls themed after different Disney movies.
Inside, CentralwOrld is massive. We spent our time at the Thai souvenir, toy, and stationery shops. It was the perfect place to end our magical week in Bangkok.
Final Remarks
The week we spent in Bangkok was magical. We fell in love with the culture, the architecture, the malls and especially the food. As fans of Thai cuisine, we were ecstatic to find so many authentic Halal restaurants. Bangkok is extremely kid friendly and the locals are incredibly hospitable. Our two favourite malls were the MBK Center and Asiatique the Riverfront.
