Getting Around and Staying in Switzerland

The Scenic Drive From Zürich to Lauterbrunnen

After enjoying our breakfast, we started our journey by driving from Zürich to Trümmelbach, located in the stunning Lauterbrunnen Valley. The drive takes nearly two hours, but the time flies by because the route is extremely scenic and romantic.

Along the way, we encountered a few well-labeled viewing points. We highly recommend stopping at these spots to properly enjoy the breathtaking beauty of the Swiss mountains and lakes.

Exploring the Inside of Trümmelbach Falls

Upon arriving, we purchased our entry tickets, which cost 14 CHF per person. Trümmelbach is famous because it holds a series of ten spectacular glacial waterfalls hidden entirely inside the mountain.

To see them, we accessed the inside of the mountain via an impressive tunnel lift. Once inside, the environment changes completely. The area is damp, cold, and slippery, so wearing sturdy shoes is essential.

It is also important to note that the path relies entirely on stairs. Because of this layout, the experience is unsuitable for little kids, strollers, and wheelchairs. While some parts of the mountain are naturally dark, they are artificially illuminated with lights, creating a dramatic atmosphere.

We spent a full hour inside the mountain and thoroughly enjoyed the powerful waterfalls. We found the entire experience to be extremely romantic and well-suited for couples.

A Stroll Through Interlaken

After finishing our tour at Trümmelbach, we drove to Interlaken, which is a short and easy 20-minute drive away. We parked our car in a public parking space and set off on foot to explore.

The weather was sunny and moderate, perfect for walking around and enjoying the mountain scenery. We spent about an hour walking through the town before we started to feel hungry and decided to make our way toward our dinner.

Final Remarks

A half-day trip consisting of a visit to Trümmelbach falls and Interlaken is exactly what a romantic exploration of Switzerland looks like. The scenic views are extremely therapeutic and totally recommended by us.
