A Beach Day Followed by Noodles
In July 2026, like every other year, we found ourselves back in the Netherlands. It always starts as a family trip and turns into an exploration. In 2025, we spent two days at Ameland and the kids had an awesome beach experience.
This year, they had only one request: “Take us to a beach.” You cannot go to the Netherlands and not let the kids indulge. So this is what we did. We chose to go to Egmond Aan Zee and paired it up with a stroll and dinner in Amsterdam. Here is how our day went.

Arriving in Egmond

A Sunny Morning at Egmond Aan Zee Beach
We drove from our place of stay to Egmond Aan Zee. It was a 2 hour drive, and the kids enjoyed it only because they knew it would end with a seaside visit. We came prepared with a beach parasol borrowed from family, along with beach truck and shovel toys for the kids.
Upon arrival at the parking lot, we were greeted by the beautiful lighthouse. It was stunning, and we could not help but get lost in its beauty. Our next order of business was to stop at a nearby café to have some Dutch fries and hydration.
We stopped at the Nijntje sitting in a boat statue. Our kids take their Dutch heritage of Nijntje very seriously and both love Nijntje to bits.
As we walked towards the beach, Mehran talked about how he would really appreciate some Dutch fried fish (Kibbeling). We had not gone far when we spotted a fried fish seller. Mehran got us all set up on the beach with our parasol and toys, then went to get some fish. The kids played for almost an hour with the toys and had a lot of fun at the beach. The weather was not too hot and it was pleasantly windy, so we had a great experience.
The fish was delicious, and after playing some more, we all went to enjoy the sea. We had a lot of fun playing around in the water. The beach was truly beautiful and it was not overcrowded, which helped keep our experience positive.
Heading to Amsterdam and Exploring the Canals
From Egmond Aan Zee, we drove to Amsterdam. In 2025, we tried driving to Amsterdam and it was so overcrowded and hot that we left almost 10 minutes after arriving. This year, we were scared, but we really wanted to try a Chinese handpulled noodles place, so we decided to try our luck.
Luckily this year, both the weather and the crowds were under control. We walked around the scenic canals and saw the International Theater Amsterdam as well.

We had heard great things about Yellow River Lanzhou Noodles in Amsterdam. It is a 100% Halal restaurant. We love handpulled noodles and simply had to give this spot a shot.
We ordered Beef Dumplings, Lanzhou Traditional Beef Noodles, Fried Rice, and Chicken Fried Handpulled Noodles. The portion sizes were big and the food was absolutely mouthwatering. It was a really good decision to finally try this place out. We had no regrets and walked out with happy faces.

Overall, it was a day spent well. The beach, Amsterdam, and the food were all on point, making it an awesome experience.
